ADU Updates Salt Lake City has several different zoning codes, ranging from very low-density, single-family areas to high-density neighborhoods with multi-family dwellings. Out of the city’s 30 zoning classifications—including commercial, industrial and special-purpose areas—12 allow some form of residential property.

Each zone restricts the kinds of buildings and activities that can exist on a private parcel, ostensibly to help prevent conflicts between different uses.
