I’m breaking a personal rule. As a writer, I try not to privilege my personal beliefs over the subject in question, knowing that my audience is wide and varied across the diverse and pluralistic landscape we share. I find that by being more deliberate with my words and by devoting more time to listening and observing, the substance of my thought becomes enhanced.
We are gifted with more ears and eyes than mouths, after all. But there do come times when one is compelled to say something, especially within a climate of fear and foolishness.
