If you thought it was going to be Canada or figured maybe it would be Greenland, well, surprise, the 51st state is Venezuela! We probably should have guessed, what with President Donald Trump ordering the U.S. military to blow up small boats in the Caribbean, seize giant oil tankers and even destroy a Venezuelan port.
As Trump said after the Jan. 3 incursion and abduction of President Nicolás Maduro, “We're going to get our oil back.” How our oil got to Venezuela, we're not sure, but Trump said it's ours, so it's ours. How soon Venezuela will gain statehood isn't clear.
