At What Cost? “The Borg are a fictional cybernetic species from Star Trek that assimilates individuals and technology to achieve perfection. Resistance is futile.” So said the AI assistant on my computer. The irony isn’t lost on me. Every day, I use a computer, smartphone, modern car and countless digital services.
Like most people, I enjoy the convenience. But all that technology is driving explosive growth in artificial intelligence data centers—enormous facilities with staggering demands for electricity and water, including projects proposed for Duchesne and Box Elder counties.
