“Community Radio,” April 9 Cover Story KRCL’s first day on the air—December 4, 1979—was my last day on campus at the Yew of Yew. I happened to pick up a copy of the Chronicle , and there was an article about a brand new radio station, with no commercials. I tuned in on my drive home (missed the first hour) and I’ve been hooked ever since.
