Jennifer Napier-Pearce is sworn in as a member of the Salt Lake City Council on Tuesday, June 6, 2026. Grace X. Maya Nearly two dozen hopefuls spoke before the Salt Lake City Council on Tuesday, seeking to establish themselves as the individual best suited to fill the Council’s District 4 vacancy.
The seat was vacated last month by former councilmember Eva Lopez Chavez, after an investigation determined she was no longer living in the district, which covers Central City and the eastern portions of downtown.
