The Sheep Detectives This adaptation of Leonie Swann’s 2005 book Three Bags Full from director Kyle Balda ( Minions ) and writer Craig Mazin ( The Last of Us ) feels a bit like two movies pasted together, but both of them are entertaining enough that it’s not particularly distracting.
It’s set in an English village where sheep farmer George Hardy (Hugh Jackman) lives peacefully with his flock—including his favorite, Lily (Julia Louis-Dreyfuss)—until he’s found dead, and Lily decides to apply the lessons learned from the murder-mysteries George reads to his sheep, and attempt to solve the crime.
