Forgotten Island *** Nostalgia hasn’t exactly been the most positive influence on contemporary filmmaking, but this animated adventure makes great use of the concept, both for its visual style and for its thematic foundation. Set in early-2000s Philippines, it follows two best friends since childhood—wild child Jo (singer H.
E.R.) and bookish Raissa (Liza Soberano)—who might be separated as Raissa prepares to head to the U.S. for college.
