It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day and the Hibernian Society is in the final planning stages for their annual parade in our capital city. I’m not Irish, but I love history—and Irish history in Utah is vast. I’d always heard that the fifth-century Christians killed off the “snakes” (the Druids/Pagans) in Ireland, but there does not seem to be much evidence of such murders.
St. Patrick was born in Britain, captured by Irish raiders when he was 16 and escaped his captors, only to return to the country as a missionary for his church.
