A wealth of films has been preserved over the years, but far more have been lost. Charlie Chaplin, the biggest star in the world at one time, was wealthy enough to archive almost all of his films, and only one film from his career is truly lost to time, 1914’s Her Friend the Bandit .
It was made during Chaplin’s days at Mack Sennett’s Keystone Studios, and he starred as the love interest of Mabel Normand, who was then an even bigger star than he.
