FLASHBACK 1998: UTA could lose federal light-rail money because agency officials refuse to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Salt Lake City Weekly has learned that UTA earlier had assured the Federal Transit Administration that by June 1997 it would be in full compliance with ADA. UTA officials had specifically said money was not a barrier to compliance. Almost an entire year after the deadline, however, UTA is still knowingly violating the law in three critical areas.
